In the modern world, digital technologies are increasingly important to education. They can be used to create more engaging and interactive learning materials, to improve the effectiveness of learning and to provide access to education to more people.
To make the most of the opportunities of digital technologies, teachers, creators of educational content and youth must have the necessary digital competences.
The European Framework for Digital Competences for Trainers (DigCompEdu)
The European Framework for Digital Competences for Educators (DigiCompEdu) is a set of competences that teachers need to have in order to use digital technologies effectively in education.
DigCompEdu is aimed at educators at all levels of education, from early childhood to tertiary and adult education, including general and vocational education and training, special needs education and non-formal learning contexts.
The framework is divided into six areas:
🎯 Digital competence for self-learning is the ability of teachers to learn and apply new digital technologies.
🎯 Digital competence for teaching is the ability of teachers to use digital technologies for teaching and learning.
🎯 Digital competence for assessment is the ability of teachers to use digital technologies to assess learning.
🎯 Digital competence for classroom management is the ability of teachers to use digital technologies for classroom management.
🎯 Digital competence for partnership is the ability of teachers to use digital technologies to partner with other teachers, parents and the community.
🎯 Digital competence for professional development is the ability of teachers to use digital technologies for professional development.
European Competence Center for the Development and Use of Spatial Technologies in the Educational Process
The center creates a communication environment with the target groups - teachers, creators of educational content and youth, according to the European framework for digital competences for trainers (DigiCompEdu). This environment will be designed to exchange information, resources and ideas about the use of digital technologies in education.
The Center will use a variety of communication channels, including:
🎯 Website: The Center will create a website that will provide information on digital technologies in education, as well as resources and tools for teachers, educational content creators and youth.
🎯 Social Media: The Center will use social media to share information and resources about digital technologies in education.
🎯 Educational and methodological materials: The center will develop educational and methodological materials for digital technologies in education, which will be available to teachers and youth.
🎯 Networks and Events: The Center will organize networks and events to exchange information and ideas on the use of digital technologies in education.
The purpose of this communication environment is to help the target groups develop the necessary digital competences to effectively use digital technologies in education.
How the Center can use digital technologies to develop new skills
Here are some concrete examples of how the Center can use digital technologies to develop new skills for target groups:
provides teachers with access to online courses and digital technology resources. The center will organize seminars and workshops for teachers to share best practices for using digital technologies in education.
provides educational content creators with access to tools and resources to create digital content. The center aims to organize contests and competitions for creators of educational content to promote the use of digital technologies in education.
provides youth with access to online resources and tools for digital learning. The center will provide and organize activities and programs for young people to promote the use of digital technologies for learning and creativity.
Our goal is to give sustainability to the established European platforms for educational resources in virtual and augmented reality (iedu360.eu) and for visual resources in 360 degrees (360image.net) by promoting them throughout Europe. To expand the possibilities of the created digital resources, contributing to reach as many users as possible. This is our top priority.
Our goal is also to promote technological and practical education with digital spatial visualizations and technologies, incl. through the development of training programs and pilot educational resources.
The experience of our experts involved in the development of the platforms and training sessions shows that the most interested users of such resources are all educational centers and publishing houses. The network works in collaboration with schools, vocational training centers and universities from all over Europe, and we believe that it is the development of digital competences that are key to the work of the teachers of the future.
